There’s never a lack of things to do or great places to eat in the Orlando area.  Soon you will be able to add one more to that list when Doctor Phillips will be welcoming a new restaurant called Slate.  Still currently under construction, it’s expected to open it’s doors for business on May 30th.

It’s located right next door to the new Trader Joe’s grocery store on Sand Lake Road in the Parkside at Dr. Phillips retail complex.

The cuisine will feature a modern American menu with a hint of Southern flare inspired by Chef Dominic Rice, a graduate of Orlando Culinary Academy, who has recently been working in New York, New York.

os-sketches-unicorp-restaurant-slate-20150205-005I ran across this sketch of what the interior is intended to look like at completion. From everything that I’ve read, it sounds as though it’s going to have a really cool atmosphere with a large grow wall near the entrance with edible herbs, a wine wall, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, gas-powered indoor chandeliers and sconce lights resembling candles and an open kitchen featuring a Pizza bar with a brick oven.

The outdoor dining area, with fire torches, waterfalls and a running stream will make for a relaxing setting after a long day at work.  I’m looking forward to giving this place a try when it opens!
